Special effects for 13. IAAF World Indoor Championships

lunatX was responsible for the special effects for the Opening Ceremony of 13. IAAF World Indoor Championships 2010 in Doha. 1,400 Athletes from 160 nations took part at the sport event in the Aspire Dome on the 12th of March. Two years before the competition was held in Valencia, Spain.

The appearance of the mascot “Saham”, with which the Opening Ceremony started, was accompanied by lunatX technicians firing 6 flames in stepped sequences from the front of the stage. Before the mascot chased down the ramp, stepped pyro-jet sequences were fired to the left and the right side down the 60 m track.

After all the flag bearers of the 160 competing nations were lined up the president of the organising committee, the crown prince H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, officially opened the world championships. Following that the 10 by 2 meter large pyro-burning sign “Doha 2010” was lit. At the same time a stepped streamer chase in the colours gold, silver and white was fired out of 400 LX Shooters out of the roof of the Aspire Dome.
