The fireworks display was choreographed music synchronously to a music compilation, consisting of songs from bands and artists who had performed in the “Autostadt” within the last 10 years. Amongst others like famous Stars as Kraftwerk (2009), Simple Minds (2009), Modern Talking (2001), Sting (2010), Bryan Ferry (2007), Xavier Naidoo (2001), Nena (2002), Joe Cocker (2008) und Liza Minelli (2008).
The show staged by lunatX lasted for around 12.5 minutes and consisted of a combination of aerial fireworks, one-shots and special effects. Amongst others the fireworks were fired off the roofs of the customer service centre, the Seat and Skoda pavilions, the car towers as well as form an oversized mirror ball hanging 100 m high.
In total 3,500 singly programmed and controlled effects were fired, partially especially manufactured aerial display shells made in Spain and Taiwan were used, which for example drew the “Autostadt” logo, a “10” as well as smileys and so called “pattern shells” like hearts, umbrellas, atomic signs, stars and clowns into the night sky. Once again CEO Frank Lohse was responsible for the choreography and programming of the fireworks display.
A special challenge for the lunatX team for this project posed the very little time for setup. This very tight time frame resulted from the fact that several single effects stood directly on the plant grounds of the Volkswagen Group and under no circumstances were plant operations to be impeded. Just 40 minutes setup time was scheduled for the effects positioned in the “Autostadt”.
